Most commonly used tools of product analysts

In a recent blog post, part of our series on product development, we looked at some of the most common and useful tools in the product analyst’s arsenal. Specifically, the post discusses the following:

  1. Cohort analysis
  2. Retention analysis
  3. A/B testing
  4. Heat mapping
  5. Session replay
  6. Funnel analysis
  7. User survey
  8. Form analysis

This list is by no means meant to be exhaustive, but rather a starting point, looking at some of the most frequently used tools and analyses. We intend to add to this list in the future, compiling what will become an effective resource for helping product analysts, managers, and engineers decide what tools to use in a given situation.

Did we leave something off of this list that you believe is essential? Let us know. Has one of these tools continually disappointed you? Let us know that, too. I’ll be checking this thread routinely for suggestions, and anyone whose contributions are used on the blog will be credited.
